Leading the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office requires more than good intentions. It requires real experience managing people, operations, and budgets. Throughout my career, I’ve served in supervisory and executive roles where I’ve been responsible for personnel decisions, training, staffing, and budgeting. I oversee background checks for new hires, internal investigations, and first-line supervisors such as sergeants. I also supervise civilian support staff to ensure the office runs smoothly and efficiently.

I have completed my Middle Management certification and am working toward my Executive Level certification through the Criminal Justice Training Commission. These certifications are not easy, they require dedicated study and in-depth leadership training. They reflect my commitment to continuous improvement and professional development as a leader. Constant improvement and training are qualities that I feel leaders must have. We cannot allow ourselves to become stagnant or we will fall behind, as a person and as a department.

Budgeting is an important part of running a law enforcement agency. Taxpayer dollars must be managed responsibly, and every decision must be made with the safety of our community and staff in mind. As Sheriff, I will ensure our office is properly staffed, properly trained, and properly equipped while keeping within the budget. That includes reviewing programs that have fallen away, rebuilding those that work, and ensuring we’re getting the best value for the tax dollars we are entrusted with.

I will prioritize communication and support within the agency. A successful department is one where people feel heard, valued, and supported. I will meet with members of the Sheriff’s Office regularly, listen to their concerns, and work to improve our workplace culture. When personnel are treated with respect and supported in their roles, they can better serve and protect the community.
